AWeber pricing and review
AWeber is email marketing software for small businesses and creators, sold since 1998: newsletters, automations, landing pages and Stripe sales, priced by subscriber tier.
AWeber at a glance
Reachkit makes a cold email tool, which does a different job from AWeber’s email to people who subscribed. Every AWeber price here was checked in October 2026 against its own pricing page and help docs.

AWeber pricing
AWeber pricing starts at $15 a month for 500 subscribers on Lite and $30 on Plus, rising with your subscriber count. USD, from the pricing page and cost help article, as of October 2026:
- Free: up to 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month, no time limit, no card, AWeber branding on emails.
- Lite: from $15 ($12.50 a month billed yearly). Emails capped at 10 times your tier, 3 users, one list, 3 automations, a 1.0% fee on sales. The pricing page strikes branding removal from Lite; the free plan page says paid plans remove it.
- Plus: from $30 ($20 billed yearly). A 12-times cap, unlimited lists, users and automations, removable branding, priority support, a 0.6% sales fee.
- Done For You: Plus, with AWeber’s team building your template, form and landing page within 7 days. In October 2026 the setup fee was advertised as a limited-time $79, list price $599.
| Subscribers | Lite | Plus | Emails a month (Lite / Plus) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | $15 | $30 | 5,000 / 6,000 |
| 1,000 | $25 | $45 | 10,000 / 12,000 |
| 5,000 | $60 | $90 | 50,000 / 60,000 |
| 10,000 | $100 | $135 | 100,000 / 120,000 |
| 50,000 | $375 | $400 | 500,000 / 600,000 |
| 100,000 | $600 | $750 | 1,000,000 / 1,200,000 |
The page also lists a 150,000 tier while asking anyone over 100,000 to contact AWeber. Yearly billing costs ten months’ worth (about 17% off), except Plus at 500, where $240 a year is a third off.
How subscribers are counted: unsubscribes don’t count, but a person on two lists is counted on each, since every list “operates independently” (duplicates help). Passing your tier’s subscribers or emails upgrades you automatically; going back down means contacting support (pricing FAQ).
What a typical setup costs (my math): a weekly newsletter to 1,000 subscribers is about 4,300 emails a month, so Lite at $25. Mailing 5,000 people daily (152,000 emails in an average 30.4-day month) bills like a far bigger list: $180 on Plus, $185 on Lite.
What AWeber does
AWeber sends email to people who signed up for it. You collect subscribers through forms, landing pages, imports or integrations such as Shopify and Facebook Lead Ads, sort them with lists and tags, then send broadcasts or automated Workflows. The same account sells products and subscriptions through Stripe.
Who you may email is tightly defined. AWeber’s service agreement allows only “people that have specifically requested information directly from you” and calls purchased leads “strictly prohibited”. Mail leaves from AWeber’s servers; it doesn’t host or warm inboxes, and replies reach your own mailbox.
AI and building on it: six AI tools, including a Newsletter Assistant that drafts from your website and past emails, come with every plan, per AWeber’s AI page. Its MCP server, launched December 2025, lets Claude or ChatGPT read your broadcast stats, tag subscribers and save drafts, without sending. There’s also a REST API.
AWeber strengths and drawbacks
Strengths
- Support you can reach. Phone, chat and email around the clock on every plan, from in-house staff (homepage).
- Prices in the open. Every tier up to 150,000 subscribers is listed, monthly and yearly.
- Easy to learn. Tooltester found AWeber “very easy to use, with a clean dashboard”.
- Help moving in. AWeber migrates your account free.
Drawbacks
- The December 2024 price rise. Grandfathered Pro-plan prices ended then, per EmailOctopus, a competitor, which put the rise at 50 to 150%. - A bill that moves up more easily than down. Deleting subscribers doesn’t lower the plan by itself.
- Cancelling takes steps. You can cancel in billing settings, but it counts once AWeber confirms it, and cancelling through support needs a copy of your latest invoice (billing help). One-star Trustpilot reviews describe trouble cancelling and disputed charges.
What AWeber users say
AWeber holds 4.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 178 reviews as of October 2026, split 60% five-star and 31% one-star. Search listings show 4.2 on G2 from about 650 reviews and 4.4 on Capterra from about 320.
Five-star reviews mostly thank support: “AWeber customer support have always been responsive, helpful and courteous” (June 2026). One-star reviews center on billing and cancelling: “Aweber makes it almost impossible to cancel once you sign on as a subscriber” (February 2026). Most low ratings date from 2025 or earlier; the past 12 months’ 57 reviews are mostly five-star. Some Capterra reviewers call the interface dated.
Who AWeber is for
AWeber fits a coach, course creator or small shop with an opted-in list who wants a person to call when a broadcast breaks, and published prices up front. Going by the pricing page, Plus at 500 subscribers, $20 a month billed yearly, is the cheapest way to drop the branding.
Look elsewhere if your audience sits on overlapping lists (merge them into one list with tags first), if you need automation depth where G2’s comparison summary says it may trail ActiveCampaign, or if your prospects never signed up. I keep prospect outreach on its own domains and inboxes, away from the newsletter account; here’s how I build that.
Alternatives to AWeber
- Mailchimp: from $13 a month for 500 contacts, a free plan for 250, and unsubscribed contacts count toward the bill.
- MailerLite: from $12 a month for 500 subscribers on Comfort, free up to 250.
- Constant Contact: from $12 a month, with phone and chat support on its cheapest plan.
- ActiveCampaign: behavior-triggered automations on every plan, from $15 a month billed yearly for 1,000 contacts.
- Brevo: billed by emails sent, from $9 a month for 5,000, and free for 300 a day.
- Reachkit (our product): for writing to prospects who never joined your AWeber list, which AWeber’s rules don’t allow. It registers separate domains ($15 a year each), sets up Google or Microsoft inboxes on them ($5 a month each), ramps each from 3 emails a day to a default 20, and finds verified leads with 1,000 credits a month on the $39 Growth plan.
AWeber: common questions
How much is AWeber per month?
AWeber costs $15 a month for 500 subscribers on Lite and $30 on Plus, or $12.50 and $20 a month billed yearly. The price follows your subscriber tier: at 10,000 subscribers Lite is $100 and Plus $135 a month. Prices checked October 2026 on AWeber's pricing page.
Does AWeber have a free plan?
Yes. AWeber Free covers up to 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month, with no time limit and no card, and its emails carry AWeber branding. Lite and Plus have a 14-day trial that turns into a paid plan, which AWeber's docs say needs a card.
Is AWeber a legit company?
Yes. AWeber Systems, Inc. has sold email marketing software since 1998 and offers phone, chat and email support around the clock. It holds 4.3 on Trustpilot from 178 reviews as of October 2026. Most praise the support team, while about a third are one-star, often about billing or cancelling.
Is AWeber better than Mailchimp?
AWeber's free plan gives more room: 500 subscribers and 3,000 emails a month against Mailchimp's 250 contacts and 500 emails. AWeber doesn't count unsubscribes, while Mailchimp counts unsubscribed contacts until archived. At 500 contacts, Mailchimp Essentials costs $13 a month against AWeber Lite's $15, as of October 2026.
Can you use AWeber for cold email?
No. AWeber's service agreement only allows emailing people who requested information directly from you, and it bans purchased leads. Outreach to prospects who never subscribed belongs on separate domains and inboxes, for example in Reachkit, which is our product: it registers the domains, sets up and warms the inboxes, and finds verified leads.
