ZeptoMail pricing and review

ZeptoMail, renamed Zoho CPaaS in September 2026, is Zoho's service for app-triggered email like OTPs and receipts, paid with prepaid credits.

ZeptoMail at a glance

Reachkit makes a competing cold email tool. All ZeptoMail prices below come from Zoho’s pricing page, help docs and terms, checked October 2026.

About the name: ZeptoMail became Zoho CPaaS in September 2026, when Zoho added SMS, WhatsApp and Voice in beta. zoho.com/zeptomail now opens the CPaaS site.

ZeptoMail pricing

ZeptoMail pricing is pay-as-you-go: one email credit costs $2.50 and covers 10,000 emails, with no plans, seats or monthly minimum. Figures are USD list prices from Zoho’s pricing page, as of October 2026.

ItemPriceTerms
Email credit$2.50 (₹150)10,000 emails, valid 6 months from purchase
First creditFree10,000 emails to start
Dedicated IP$30 a month, billed yearly ($360)Only in Zoho’s US, EU and India data centers; ask support first
High volumeCustomQuoted by Zoho on request

How emails are counted: by recipient, so one email with 1 To and 3 CC addresses counts as 4.

Buying and expiry: you can’t buy credits until Zoho has reviewed your account. Unused credits expire, though Zoho’s homepage says “no unused credit write-offs”, and its terms refund none of them if you close the account. Zoho’s pages differ on the free credit: its FAQ gives it one month, while the pricing page just says “First credit is free”.

A price to recheck: a July 2026 third-party review reported a pricing update for new sign-ups, but in October 2026 Zoho still listed $2.50, with no notice.

What a typical setup costs (my math, list price, ignoring the free credit): at 1,000 emails a month, one $2.50 credit covers 6 months, so about $5 a year. 10,000 a month is $2.50 a month, 100,000 is $25 (₹1,500), and 500,000 is $125, plus $30 a month for an optional dedicated IP.

What ZeptoMail does

ZeptoMail delivers the email your software sends, through SMTP or a REST API. Zoho’s terms limit it to transactional messages like welcome emails, order confirmations and password resets, and its help docs point newsletters and bulk mail to Zoho Campaigns.

Setup: you verify your sending domain with DKIM and CNAME records, and Zoho suggests a separate domain for transactional mail. Every new account is then reviewed by hand (Zoho says in 2 business days), and sending is capped at 100 emails a day until then. After review, Zoho’s FAQ says there’s no hourly quota or sending limit, though its terms allow throttling, especially of first-time senders.

Day to day: you sort mail by app, domain or purpose into Agents, each with its own credentials and optional daily limits. Mail goes out on shared IPs unless you pay for a dedicated one. Webhooks report opens, clicks and bounces, and there are templates, suppression lists and exportable logs.

Moving in: importers move setups from Postmark, SendGrid and Resend. There’s a Zapier app, a WordPress plugin still named Zoho ZeptoMail and an official Node.js package on npm. Zoho’s feature pages list no reply inbox or inbound processing.

ZeptoMail strengths and drawbacks

Strengths

  • Very low cost per email, and no monthly fee. A Capterra reviewer called it “a very affordable alternative to other vendors on the market”.
  • App mail kept apart. Zoho says its infrastructure “is isolated from marketing traffic”, and G2’s review summary highlights reliable delivery and easy integration.
  • Easy to set up. Ease of setup scores 9.7 out of 10 on G2, and since August 2026 Zoho Mail admins can set it up from their admin console.
  • No tiers. Every feature comes with every credit, and Zoho lists support at no extra cost.

Drawbacks

  • No cold outreach. Zoho’s terms allow only transactional email, ban bought and scraped lists, and let Zoho terminate an account “without any prior notification” if bounces or complaints pass its limits (under 5% and under 0.1%).
  • Review can hold up launch. Forum users report waits past the stated 2 business days; one was still waiting on business day 6 (Zoho forum).
  • Support complaints. A May 2025 Capterra review is titled “Cheap service, horrible support”.
  • Credits expire after 6 months, with no refund for what’s left when you close the account.

What ZeptoMail users say

As of October 2026 ZeptoMail has few public reviews: 4.8 out of 5 on G2 from 16 and 4.0 on Capterra from 4. I found no Trustpilot profile, and Capterra now lists it as Zoho CPaaS.

The praise is about price and setup: G2 rates ease of use 9.6 and ease of doing business 9.8. The complaints are about reaching people. Capterra’s customer service sub-score is 1.0 from two ratings (G2 rates support 9.3), and two of the top three results for “zeptomail review” describe slow answers: a forum thread on review times and a Reddit post about a stuck support ticket.

Who ZeptoMail is for

ZeptoMail fits developers and small businesses that send app email in modest or uneven amounts: a WordPress store sending order emails through the plugin, or a team already on Zoho Mail.

Look elsewhere if you need inbound email, fast human support, or a home for newsletters or prospecting. For prospects, I’d use separate domains and real mailboxes, away from the domain your password resets come from (how I set that up).

Alternatives to ZeptoMail

  • Amazon SES: the one option here listing a lower paid rate per email than ZeptoMail; new accounts begin on Essentials at $0.16 per 1,000, billed per message inside AWS. See the Amazon SES profile.
  • Postmark: monthly plans from $15 for 10,000 emails, with a free tier of 100 a month. See the Postmark profile and SendGrid vs Postmark.
  • Mailgun: Basic at $15 for 10,000 and a free plan sending 100 a day. See the Mailgun profile and Mailgun vs SendGrid.
  • Resend: a developer-focused API whose free plan covers 3,000 emails a month. See the Resend profile.
  • Reachkit (our product): for the prospecting ZeptoMail’s terms rule out, while ZeptoMail keeps sending your OTPs and receipts. From $39 a month, Reachkit finds verified leads, registers lookalike domains ($15 a year), sets up Google or Microsoft inboxes on them ($5 a month each), warms them with AI and collects replies in its Unibox.

ZeptoMail: common questions

How much is ZeptoMail?

ZeptoMail costs $2.50 per email credit, which covers 10,000 emails sent within 6 months, about $0.25 per 1,000, with no monthly fee or plan. A dedicated IP is $30 a month, billed yearly, in some regions only. List prices from Zoho's pricing page, checked October 2026.

How much does it cost to send 1,000 emails with ZeptoMail?

About $0.25 in theory, but credits come in 10,000-email units, so the smallest purchase is $2.50. At 1,000 emails a month, one credit lasts its full 6 months, roughly $5 a year at October 2026 list prices.

Is ZeptoMail free?

Only the first credit: 10,000 emails, which Zoho's FAQ says are valid for one month. Sending is capped at 100 a day until your account is reviewed. After that, credits cost $2.50 per 10,000 emails, as of October 2026.

Is ZeptoMail reliable?

For app email, reviewers mostly say yes. ZeptoMail is a legitimate Zoho product rated 4.8 from 16 G2 reviews as of October 2026, praised for easy integration and reliable delivery. Zoho's homepage quotes a customer reporting over 99% delivered. The recurring complaints are slow support and slow account review.

Is ZeptoMail the same as Zoho CPaaS?

Yes. Zoho renamed ZeptoMail to Zoho CPaaS in September 2026 and added SMS, WhatsApp and Voice, all in beta. The product began as TransMail and became ZeptoMail in 2021. Zoho says existing SMTP settings, API keys and Agents carried over unchanged.

Can you use ZeptoMail for cold email?

No. ZeptoMail's terms allow transactional email only and ban bought or scraped contacts, and Zoho reviews every new account against that policy. For prospecting, use separate domains and Google or Microsoft mailboxes in a cold email tool, such as Reachkit, which is our product and can set those up for you.

Want to email prospects, not just send receipts?

ZeptoMail's terms stop at app email. Reachkit registers separate domains, sets up and warms Google or Microsoft inboxes, and sends your sequences, with a 30-day free trial and no card.
