Zoho Mail is low-cost business email on your own domain, with a calendar, contacts and AI writing help, sold on its own or inside the Zoho Workplace suite.

Zoho Mail at a glance

Reachkit makes a cold email tool and sells sending inboxes, so it overlaps with Zoho Mail at the edges. Every price here was checked in October 2026 against Zoho’s own pricing page and help center, without a Zoho Mail account.

Zoho Mail pricing

Zoho Mail pricing runs from $0 to $7 a user a month on US list prices, and the two paid Mail-only plans are sold on yearly billing only. Figures below are from the Zoho Mail pricing page as of October 2026, per user per month.

PlanBilled yearlyBilled monthlyMail storage
Mail FreeFreeFree5 GB
Mail Lite$1 (5 GB) or $1.25 (10 GB)Not offered5 or 10 GB
Mail Premium$4Not offered50 GB
Workplace Standard$3$430 GB
Workplace Professional$6$7100 GB

Workplace Enterprise is priced by Zoho sales. Workplace plans add file storage, documents, chat and video meetings. Mail Premium and Workplace Professional add retention, eDiscovery and S/MIME.

Zoho’s FAQ calls the yearly discount about 20%, varying by region. On US prices it’s 25% on Workplace Standard and about 14% on Professional.

Free plan: up to 5 users on one domain, 5 GB each, web and mobile apps only. IMAP, POP, forwarding and ActiveSync need a paid plan, and Zoho says Free is available only in select data centers. From the sixth user, everyone moves to a paid plan.

What a typical setup costs: 5 people on Mail Lite 10 GB pay $75 a year. Ten people pay $480 a year on Mail Premium, or $360 a year on Workplace Standard ($480 if billed monthly).

Contracts and refunds: no long-term contract, and you can cancel anytime. Zoho’s refund policy gives a full refund in the first month on monthly billing or the first 45 days on yearly, but none if an account is blocked for breaking the rules.

What Zoho Mail does

Zoho Mail hosts email on a domain you own or register through Zoho, with a guided DNS setup and SPF, DKIM, DMARC and BIMI support built in. A paid organization can host up to 30 domains. Around the inbox sit a calendar, contacts, tasks and notes, in web, mobile and desktop apps.

Zia, Zoho’s AI assistant, is “powered by OpenAI” and drafts emails from a phrase, adjusts tone and length, and summarizes long threads. Zoho’s pricing page lists it on every paid plan, not on Free. There’s also a REST API and an official Zoho Mail MCP server for AI assistants like Claude.

Zoho Mail is built for people writing their own mail. Its rates and limits page caps outside email at a dynamic 50 to 500 emails an hour per account based on sender reputation, and says limits can change without notice.

Zoho Mail strengths and drawbacks

Strengths

  • Low price per mailbox. Mail Lite costs $1 a user a month billed yearly, and Capterra reviewers rate its value for money 4.6, their highest sub-score for the product.
  • Privacy promise. Zoho’s pricing page says it will “never serve you ads, nor sell your data to third party vendors”.
  • Admin features at low prices. Retention, eDiscovery and S/MIME start on the $4 Premium plan, and Zoho says Mail is HIPAA compliant.
  • Free migration. Zoho offers an automated tool for moving mail, contacts and calendars from Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or any IMAP host.

Drawbacks

  • Not for campaign sending. Zoho’s usage policy says Zoho Mail “cannot be used” for bulk, marketing, promotional, automated or transactional email, and hitting the hourly limit stops new sends for up to an hour.
  • Yearly billing on Mail plans. Mail Lite and Mail Premium have no monthly option.
  • A narrower free plan. Older reviews describe a bigger free tier. Today it’s 5 users, with no IMAP, in some regions.
  • Mixed support reports. Some Capterra reviewers call support slow, though its support sub-scores are solid (4.4 on Capterra, 8.4 on G2).

What Zoho Mail users say

Zoho Mail holds 4.4 out of 5 on G2 from about 730 reviews and 4.5 on Capterra from more than 1,050, as of October 2026. Small businesses there praise the price and the ad-free inbox.

The complaints repeat across sites: slow support for some reviewers, a mobile app and web interface that feel dated or cluttered, and a free plan that shrank over time. A Reddit thread that ranks for “zoho mail pricing” is titled “Zoho mail - confusing pricing options”. Trustpilot shows 3.8 from about 6,160 reviews, but that profile covers every Zoho product, not Mail alone.

Who Zoho Mail is for

Zoho Mail fits small businesses, freelancers and nonprofits that want professional email on their own domain for about $12 a user a year, and teams leaving Google or Microsoft for price or privacy.

Look elsewhere if you plan to send cold email campaigns, newsletters or app notifications from it; Zoho points marketing mail to Zoho Campaigns and transactional mail to Zoho CPaaS. My practitioner note: keep Zoho Mail for the domain your team uses every day, and run outreach from separate domains, so a blocked or burned sending inbox never touches your main address.

Alternatives to Zoho Mail

  • Google Workspace: Gmail on your domain plus Docs, Drive and Meet, from $7 a user a month on Business Starter with a yearly commitment, or $8.40 on Flexible.
  • Zapmail: Google and Microsoft mailboxes set up for cold email, from $39 a month for 10 mailboxes in the first year. See Reachkit vs Zapmail.
  • Instantly: a cold email sender from $47 a month that also sells done-for-you Google inboxes at $5 each a month plus $15 a year per domain. See the Instantly profile.
  • Zoho Campaigns: Zoho’s own tool for newsletters and marketing email.
  • Reachkit (our product): it doesn’t replace Zoho Mail for your team’s daily email. For outreach, it registers separate lookalike domains ($15 a year), sets up inboxes ($5 a month each) and starts warmup automatically, with campaigns and replies from $39 a month.

Zoho Mail: common questions

How much is Zoho Mail per month?

Zoho Mail costs $1 a user a month for Mail Lite with 5 GB, $1.25 with 10 GB, and $4 for Mail Premium, all billed yearly. Workplace Standard is $3 a month billed yearly or $4 monthly, and Workplace Professional is $6 or $7. These are US list prices, checked October 2026.

Is Zoho Mail really free?

Yes, with limits. The free plan covers up to 5 users on one domain with 5 GB each, in the web and mobile apps only. It has no IMAP, POP or forwarding, and Zoho says it's available only in select data centers. Adding a sixth user moves everyone to a paid plan.

Is Zoho Mail legit and safe to use?

Yes. Zoho Mail comes from Zoho Corporation, in business since 1996, which says 550,000+ businesses use it. Zoho promises no ads and no sale of your data, states a 99.9% uptime SLA, and Zoho Mail holds 4.4 on G2 and 4.5 on Capterra as of October 2026.

Is Zoho Mail Chinese?

No. Zoho Corporation is an Indian company headquartered in Chennai, founded in 1996. Zoho Mail runs what it calls 10+ data centers, including ones in the US, the EU, India, Australia and Japan.

Can you use Zoho Mail for cold email?

Not for campaigns. Zoho's usage policy says Zoho Mail cannot be used for bulk, marketing, promotional or automated email, and outside sending is capped at a dynamic 50 to 500 emails an hour. The policy doesn't name cold email, but automated sequences fit those terms, and cold email blogs such as Gold Penguin relay user reports of Zoho blocking accounts used this way.

Is Zoho Mail as good as Gmail?

For everyday business email it covers the basics at a lower price. Google Workspace starts at $7 a user a month on a yearly plan against $1 for Mail Lite, and bundles Docs, Drive and Meet.
