Smartlead pricing and review
Smartlead is a cold email platform built for agencies: no per-mailbox fee and warmup on every plan, lead data bundled on the top plans, and bought mailboxes and white label sold as extras.

Smartlead pricing
Smartlead pricing starts at $39 a month for Base and tops out at $379 for Unlimited Prime. Figures from smartlead.ai/pricing, in USD before tax, October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly (yearly, per month) | Sends a month | Contacts stored |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base | $39 ($32.50) | 6,000 | 2,000 |
| Pro | $94 ($78.30) | 90,000 | 30,000 |
| Unlimited Smart | $174 ($144.50) | 150,000 | Unlimited |
| Unlimited Prime | $379 ($314.60) | 500,000 | Unlimited |
The plan cards round yearly prices to $32, $78, $144 and $315, and Smartlead’s llms.txt file lists Prime at 510,000 sends. Stored contacts don’t reset each month, so you make room by deleting finished campaigns.
What the plans change: Base leaves out the built-in CRM, the API, webhooks and client workspaces. Pro adds those, with workspaces at $29 per client a month. Prime adds three dedicated servers, three client workspaces and a dedicated manager. On teammates, Smartlead’s pages disagree: a help article puts them on Pro, while some of its comparison pages say every plan has unlimited seats.
Lead data (SmartProspect): each plan includes verified prospect emails equal to about a third of its sends (2,000, 30,000, 50,000 or 170,000 a month). Base and Pro pay a $59 monthly fee to use them; the Unlimited plans don’t.
Paid extras: done-for-you Google mailboxes through SmartSenders at $4.50 a month plus $13 per domain a year ($9 a month and $18 a year for pre-warmed ones), dedicated IPs at $39 per server a month, placement tests from $49 to $599 a month, and verification credits from $32.
What a typical setup costs (monthly billing, fresh SmartSenders mailboxes): a founder with 10 Google mailboxes on 5 domains, reaching 1,500 new prospects a month from SmartProspect, pays about $148 a month on Base ($39 + $45 + $5.42 for domains + $59). Base’s 2,000 contacts fill in the second month at that pace, so keeping history means Pro, about $203. An agency with 60 mailboxes on 20 domains sending 25,000 emails a month to 10,000 new prospects outgrows Pro’s 30,000 contacts by month three and lands on Unlimited Smart at about $466, before client workspaces.
What Smartlead does
Smartlead runs cold email sequences across the mailboxes you connect, rotating sends between them while each lead stays on one mailbox for the whole sequence. Google and Outlook connect with a sign-in, anything else over SMTP. Its help center caps a new mailbox at 40 to 50 emails a day, warmup included, and advises at least 14 days of warmup.
SmartSenders registers new domains, sets the DNS records and connects mailboxes within 24 to 48 hours. Warmup pools are tiered by plan. Per the help center, open and click tracking start switched on in each campaign.
Replies from every mailbox and client land in the Master Inbox. Since May 2026 a chat agent, SmartAssistant, builds campaigns, writes sequences and diagnoses problems on every plan, and a Reply Agent drafts answers for you to review and send. An official MCP server connects it to Claude. CRM integrations include HubSpot, Pipedrive, Attio and GoHighLevel, and LinkedIn steps run through HeyReach and Aimfox.
Smartlead strengths and drawbacks
Strengths
- No per-mailbox fee. Adding mailboxes doesn’t raise the plan price, and warmup is on every plan. The pricing page calls mailboxes unlimited, though its Fair Use Policy and a help article mention plan limits.
- Agency tooling. White-label workspaces run on your own domain, clients can get reply-only logins that show just the Interested replies, and you set your own client pricing (white label).
- Cheap volume at the top. $174 buys 150,000 sends, unlimited contacts and 50,000 verified prospect emails a month.
- Tools to watch deliverability. Placement tests, dedicated IPs, one-click reconnects (August 2026) and Auto-Replace for failing or expiring mailboxes (September 2026), per the changelog.
Drawbacks
- Base is lean. 2,000 stored contacts, no API, webhooks or built-in CRM.
- Bought domains don’t renew. Per the help center, SmartSenders domains run a fixed one-year term, and they can’t be used outside Smartlead.
- Support pace. The FAQ promises a reply within 24 hours; a help article says 48 to 72 hours, on Indian Standard Time.
- Separate bills. Lead data, mailboxes, workspaces and servers each add a line, and add-ons are non-refundable.
What Smartlead users say
Smartlead scores 4.5 out of 5 on G2 from 454 reviews and 2.9 on Trustpilot from 141, as of October 2026. Trustpilot is split almost down the middle: 63 five-star reviews and 66 one-star.
Trustpilot’s review summary credits an intuitive interface and reliable tools for running many inboxes. In an August 2026 Reddit thread, one user of both rated Smartlead stronger for client workspaces and Instantly easier for a solo sender.
Complaints cluster around slow support, bugs and billing, including several 2026 Trustpilot reviews about charges and cancelling. Base and Pro can cancel inside the app; custom plans go through support. One positive Trustpilot review also mentions “…a bit of a learning curve…” given how many features there are.
Who Smartlead is for
Smartlead suits agencies that run outbound for several clients under their own brand, and senders who will use Unlimited Smart’s volume and bundled lead data.
Look elsewhere if you want the API or a built-in CRM on a $39 plan, done-for-you domains you can keep beyond a year, or fast support. If you choose Smartlead, I’d price in Pro from the start and register your own domains for mailboxes you’ll keep long term.
Alternatives to Smartlead
- Instantly: a high-volume sender from $47 a month with no per-inbox fee, where answering replies in its Unibox needs the $97 plan. See Instantly vs Smartlead or the Instantly profile.
- Lemlist: adds LinkedIn steps and calls to email sequences on its Multichannel plan, priced per user. See Smartlead vs Lemlist.
- Saleshandy: a lower-priced sender from $41 a month. See Smartlead vs Saleshandy.
- Apollo: a contact database with sequences built in, plus a free plan. See Smartlead vs Apollo.
- EmailBison: isolated infrastructure with dedicated IPs for very high volume, from $599 a month. See Reachkit vs EmailBison.
- Reachkit (our product): flat pricing per workspace from $39 with unlimited teammates and 1,000 lead credits a month, plus Google or Microsoft inboxes on new domains it registers and configures for you, which start warmup automatically. No white-label; each client workspace needs its own plan.
Smartlead: common questions
Is Smartlead legit?
Yes. Smartlead is run by 521 Products Pty Ltd, an Australian company, and says over 100,000 businesses use it. As of October 2026 it holds 4.5 on G2 from 454 reviews and 2.9 on Trustpilot from 141, where the one-star reviews mostly concern support speed, bugs, billing and cancelling.
How much does Smartlead cost?
Smartlead costs $39 a month on Base, $94 on Pro, $174 on Unlimited Smart and $379 on Unlimited Prime, or $32.50, $78.30, $144.50 and $314.60 a month on yearly billing. Base and Pro pay $59 a month extra for SmartProspect lead data. Done-for-you mailboxes, client workspaces and dedicated servers are separate add-ons. Prices checked October 2026.
Does Smartlead have a free plan?
No. Smartlead offers a 14-day free trial with no credit card, capped at 2,500 sends and 1,250 contacts. White label isn't part of the trial, and SmartSenders mailboxes can only be bought on a paid plan.
Is Smartlead worth it?
For agencies that want white-label client workspaces, and senders who will use Unlimited Smart's 150,000 sends and bundled lead data, it's good value. Teams that need the API or built-in CRM should budget for Pro at $94, not Base.
