MailerSend pricing
MailerSend pricing starts at $7 a month for 5,000 emails on Hobby, and Starter costs $35 for 50,000. Figures are from mailersend.com/pricing and the plans help article, in USD, as of October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly / yearly (per month) | Emails a month | Extra per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 500 (max 100 a day) | Not available |
| Hobby | $7 / $6.30 | 5,000 | $1.50 |
| Starter | $35 / $31.50 | 50,000 and up | From $1.30 |
| Professional | $110 / $99 | 50,000 and up | From $1.30 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Custom |
Bigger volumes sit on a slider. MailerSend’s SMTP comparison page lists $68 for 100,000 emails and $600 for 1 million a month without naming a plan; the pricing FAQ ties $68 to Starter. I found no Professional prices above 50,000.
Overage: the help center and the live plan cards say Starter and Professional overage starts at $1.30 per 1,000 and drops on bigger plans, while the comparison page shows $0.90 at 50,000.
What the plans change: Hobby gets 1 sending domain and 5 users. Starter raises domains to 10 and adds 100 SMS (US and Canada) and live chat. Professional has 1,000 domains and 1,000 users, 30 days of activity history and DMARC monitoring for 10 domains.
Extras and discounts: extra domains are $4 a month each from Starter. A dedicated IP is $50 a month on request, on Professional and Enterprise per the help center, Enterprise only per the pricing page. Yearly billing saves 10%, nonprofits 30%. Some sites quote yearly figures 20% below monthly ($5.60, $28, $88), still in the raw HTML of the pricing and comparison pages.
What a typical setup costs (my math, monthly list prices): 10,000 emails is Hobby plus 5,000 extra, or $14.50, and Hobby beats Starter up to about 23,700 emails. An agency sending 50,000 emails from 30 client domains pays $115 on Starter (20 extra domains) or $110 on Professional.
What MailerSend does
MailerSend delivers email your software sends, such as password resets, receipts and alerts. You call its REST API or point an app at its SMTP relay, after adding DNS records for each sending domain.
Approval first: you submit company details and intended use, and MailerSend says approval can take up to 48 hours.
Day to day: a drag-and-drop template builder, webhooks, analytics, and inbound routes that pass incoming mail to your app. SMS is two-way, and WhatsApp became an add-on in September 2026.
What it isn’t: an inbox host or an outreach tool. MailerSend doesn’t create or warm mailboxes or run sequences, so replies land in your own mailbox.
AI: no AI writing. An official hosted MCP server (a standard way for AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT to use other apps) signs in by OAuth and can send email and SMS (MCP docs), plus WhatsApp since September 2026, per the changelog.
Company: MailerSend, Inc. is US-registered and says “We’re the people behind MailerLite”, which Poland’s Vercom bought in 2022.
MailerSend strengths and drawbacks
Strengths
- Low, published entry pricing. $7 buys 5,000 emails, and one help article lists every limit per plan (plans and limits).
- Well-liked support. Trustpilot’s summary cites “incredibly helpful staff, intuitive platform setup, and exceptionally quick response times”, and its five newest reviews (September to October 2026) are five-star.
- Room for agencies. Professional covers 1,000 domains and 1,000 users, and MailerSend offers role-based access, 2FA and SSO.
- More than email. SMS, WhatsApp and inbound routes, plus email verification credits on every plan.
Drawbacks
- No cold outreach. The anti-spam policy bans addresses “You bought, loaned, rented or in any way acquired from a third party” and those “You scraped or copy and pasted from the web”.
- Suspensions. The most common one-star Trustpilot complaint is a suspended account, sometimes with no clear reason. The policy allows suspension over high bounce or complaint rates “at its sole discretion”, with no published thresholds.
- A smaller free tier. Third-party reports say the old free Hobby tier of 3,000 emails became a paid plan in late 2025. Free now sends 500 a month and asks for a card.
What MailerSend users say
MailerSend holds 4.2 out of 5 on Trustpilot from 230 reviews as of October 2026, a split score: 71% five-star and 25% one-star. Search listings show 4.1 on G2 from 46 reviews and 4.4 on Capterra from 62.
Praise centers on support and fast setup.
Low ratings repeat two themes: suspensions (“Suspended my account for 4-5 days, ignored the fixes I already reported”, August 2026), and forced upgrades or sudden limit changes, raised on G2 and Trustpilot. MailerSend has replied to 77% of negative Trustpilot reviews.
Who MailerSend is for
MailerSend fits developers and small SaaS teams who want cheap app email with SMS, and agencies sending app mail for many client domains on one Professional plan.
Look elsewhere if your list didn’t opt in, or if a paused account would stop mail your business depends on. I keep outreach on separate lookalike domains with their own Google or Microsoft mailboxes, so a rough campaign never touches the domain your receipts go out from (why).

MailerSend: common questions
How much does MailerSend cost?
MailerSend costs $7 a month for 5,000 emails on Hobby, $35 for 50,000 on Starter and $110 for 50,000 on Professional, or $6.30, $31.50 and $99 a month billed yearly. Bigger volumes are priced on a slider, such as $68 for 100,000 emails. Enterprise is custom. Prices checked October 2026.
Does MailerSend have a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan sends 500 emails a month, at most 100 a day, once MailerSend approves the account. It asks for a card to prevent abuse but doesn't charge it. A 14-day trial of Professional features has the same cap.
Is MailerSend legit?
Yes. MailerSend is a US-registered company from the team behind MailerLite, and it holds 4.2 on Trustpilot from 230 reviews as of October 2026. A quarter of those are one-star, mostly about suspended accounts and plan changes.
Can you use MailerSend for cold email?
No. MailerSend's anti-spam policy bans bought, rented and scraped lists, and people you haven't contacted by email or message in the last two years. Cold outreach usually runs from separate domains and Google or Microsoft mailboxes in a tool built for it, such as Reachkit, which is our product and can set those up for you.
MailerSend vs Postmark: which is cheaper?
MailerSend is cheaper at list price as of October 2026. 10,000 emails a month cost $14.50 on MailerSend Hobby with overage against $15 on Postmark Basic, and 50,000 cost $35 on MailerSend Starter against $55 on Postmark Basic. Postmark bills monthly only, while MailerSend takes 10% off yearly.
Looked at MailerSend for outreach?
MailerSend's policy rules out bought and scraped lists. Reachkit registers separate domains, sets up Google or Microsoft inboxes and warms them before your first campaign. Try it free for 30 days, no card needed.
