Sending Limits and Ramp-Up

Campaigns

Reachkit has two separate daily limits: an optional one on the campaign and one on each inbox. This guide explains what each covers, how they interact, and why a new inbox often sends fewer emails than the number you set.

The Campaign Daily Limit

Found on the campaign itself, this caps the whole campaign per day. It is off by default, so a new campaign sends as much as its inboxes allow and you only turn it on if you want a ceiling below that.

  • It applies across all inboxes assigned to the campaign combined, not per inbox
  • It counts every email the campaign sends, including follow-up steps
  • Turning it off removes this cap and lets the inbox limits decide your volume. The number you set is kept, so switching it back on restores it

So a campaign limit of 5 sends at most 5 emails per day in total, no matter how many inboxes are attached.

The Inbox Daily Sending Limit

Found on each inbox under Campaign sending, this caps how much campaign mail that single inbox sends per day.

  • It counts every campaign email from that inbox, including follow-ups
  • A first email to a new lead and a follow-up to an existing lead each use one

If you set 10, that inbox sends up to 10 campaign emails that day. It does not mean 10 new people enter the sequence, because follow-ups draw from the same 10.

This limit is separate from your warmup limit. Warmup emails do not count against it.

How the Two Work Together

Your real daily volume is whichever runs out first:

  • The total your assigned inboxes can send between them
  • The campaign daily limit, if you have turned it on

With the campaign limit off, your inbox capacity is the only ceiling: 30 inboxes at 20 each means 600 per day. Turn the campaign limit on only to sit below that. If you set it to 5 with those same inboxes, you will send 5, not 600. So if a campaign is sending less than you expect, check whether its limit is on and set low.

Send Ramp-Up

New inboxes do not start at their full limit. Ramp-up is on by default so a fresh inbox builds volume gradually instead of sending at full rate on day one.

While ramp-up is on, how much an inbox can send today is:

ramp day x daily increase, up to the daily sending limit you set

With the default increase of 3, an inbox on ramp day 1 sends 3 per day, day 2 sends 6, day 3 sends 9, and so on until it reaches the limit you set.

This is why an inbox set to 20 may only send 3. The 20 is the number it works up to, not the number it starts at.

The ramp only moves if you use it

The ramp day goes up by one only when the inbox actually sent its full amount the day before. If an inbox sends nothing, or sends less than it was allowed, it stays on the same ramp day.

This catches people out. If a campaign is paused, has no leads, or has a campaign daily limit too low for the inboxes to hit their number, the inboxes sit on day 1 forever because they never got the chance to reach it.

To get the ramp moving, make sure the campaign is active, has leads, and has a campaign limit high enough for each inbox to send its full amount.

You can turn ramp-up off per inbox if you are moving an already-warmed inbox over from another tool.

Choosing Numbers for a Multi-Inbox Setup

  1. Decide how many emails a day you want the campaign to send
  2. Set each inbox’s daily sending limit, keeping it low on new domains
  3. Set the campaign daily limit to that number, or leave it off to let the inbox limits decide
  4. Expect the first days to send less than that while the inboxes ramp up

If you are not sure where to start, leave the inbox limits at their defaults and let ramp-up do the pacing.
