ZeroBounce ONE is a monthly subscription with no contract: $99 for 10,000 credits ($79 a month billed yearly). Larger plans are priced in its calculator. Each month it adds 10,000 finder searches, 100 inbox placement tests, 100 server tests, 250 warmup seeds, 10 blacklist monitors and one DMARC domain. Credits roll over; tests, seeds and monitors don’t. Over 1 million credits a month is quoted.
Free: business-domain signups get 100 checks a month, without warmup.
How credits go: unknown results and removed duplicates are free; catch-all results cost a credit. A found email costs 20 credits, or one of ONE’s finder searches.
Expiry: for accounts opened after June 1, 2026, credits expire two years after your last purchase unless ONE is active. Credit sales are final.
What a typical setup costs: checking about 1,500 new prospects a month, a $274 pack of 25,000 lasts about 17 months, or roughly $16 a month. At 10,000 a month, a $649 pack of 100,000 works out to about $65 a month; ONE at $99 pays off only if you’d use its warmup, tests or monitoring.
What ZeroBounce does
ZeroBounce checks whether an address accepts mail before you send. You upload a CSV, check one address, or call the API. Each result gets a status and a sub-status; do-not-mail, for example, covers role addresses like sales@, disposable domains, possible traps and a suppression list that includes “known litigators” (status codes).
Catch-all servers accept every address, so a normal check can’t tell real from fake. ZeroBounce announced in June 2026 that standard validation now resolves many catch-alls hosted on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace and major security gateways into valid or invalid (catch-all guide); its facts page dates catch-all resolution to December 2025. An optional, free setting called Verify+ goes further: it sends an email to the address and reads the bounce.
Around the verifier sit warmup for Google, Microsoft and SMTP inboxes, placement and server tests, blacklist and DMARC monitoring, an email finder, and an official MCP server, the open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude call other apps. Clay also offers ZeroBounce as a validation step.
ZeroBounce strengths and drawbacks
Strengths
- Catch-all verdicts. In a test run by Anymail Finder, a competing verifier, ZeroBounce gave a verdict on 97.7% of 8,000 catch-all and greylisted addresses (August 2026) (benchmark).
- Fair billing on unknowns, and 100 free checks a month that refill.
- Detailed risk flags. Spam traps, abuse, toxic domains and litigator suppression are split out, which helps on cold B2B lists.
Drawbacks
- Pricey at low volume. $19.50 per 1,000 at the minimum pack, and reviewers on G2 call the credit cost high for large lists.
- Accuracy depends on who’s testing. ZeroBounce’s own July 2026 test of 9,901 “deliberately adversarial” addresses scored it 98.02% (benchmark). Hunter’s November 2025 test, before the catch-all update, put it 7th of 15 at 60.70% (benchmark). Anymail Finder counted it right on 60.6% of 663 contested addresses. All three vendors sell verifiers.
- The guarantee rarely fits cold lists. ZeroBounce refunds five times the amount for each 1% of accuracy below its threshold, but the list “must be an opt-in list that you collected and not purchased from a 3rd party” (guarantee).
- Mixed messages on expiry. The about page says credits last “for life”; the terms disagree for newer accounts.
What ZeroBounce users say
ZeroBounce’s ratings are high: 4.7 out of 5 from about 1,370 on G2 (a seller-level count), 4.8 from 597 on Capterra and 4.8 from about 2,136 on Trustpilot, as Google showed them in October 2026.
A Capterra reviewer called it “very easy to set up for automation”, and a Reddit user comparing verifiers wrote “Solid accuracy, especially with risky emails” (thread).
Cost is the steady complaint, plus paying again to re-check addresses already verified. A cold emailer’s Reddit thread reports mixed results on B2B lists, and G2 lists inaccuracy among reported cons.
Who ZeroBounce is for
ZeroBounce fits teams whose prospects sit on Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or behind security gateways, where catch-all results eat a list. It also suits teams that want verification, warmup and monitoring from one vendor.
Look elsewhere if price per check matters most on small, occasional lists, or if you need the guarantee to cover a bought list.
My practitioner note: settle two things before your first cold upload. ZeroBounce counts its “accept_all” sub-status as valid because those big domains rarely bounce, so filter it out if you want a strict list. And Verify+ sends a probe email to your prospect, so choose whether you want that on. ZeroBounce’s terms of use also have a clause on unsolicited email, so read it if you send cold.
Alternatives to ZeroBounce
- NeverBounce: a lower-cost verifier owned by ZoomInfo, $8 per 1,000 or $50 for 10,000. See the NeverBounce profile.
- Hunter: finds and verifies emails and sends sequences; verification costs half a credit and the free plan includes 50 credits a month. See the Hunter profile.
- Snov.io: a finder, verifier and sender from $39 a month; unknown verification results are free there too. See Reachkit vs Snov.io.
- Apollo: if you also need the contacts; it charges credits only for verified emails. See the Apollo profile.
- Reachkit (our product): a cold email platform that verifies CSV imports by default at 1 credit per 10 addresses, holds catch-all and unverifiable addresses for your call, and pauses campaigns above 5% bounces. It includes warmup but no placement tests or blacklist monitoring.
ZeroBounce: common questions
Is ZeroBounce legit?
Yes. ZeroBounce is an email validation company operated by Hertza L.L.C. in Santa Barbara, California, founded in 2017 by its own account. As of October 2026 it holds 4.7 out of 5 on G2 from about 1,370 reviews and 4.8 on Capterra and Trustpilot, and it lists SOC 2 Type 2 certification.
How much does ZeroBounce cost?
As of October 2026, pay-as-you-go packs cost $39 for 2,000 credits, $129 for 10,000 and $649 for 100,000. ZeroBounce ONE costs $99 a month for 10,000 credits, or $79 a month billed yearly, and adds warmup, inbox placement tests and monitoring. One credit checks one address.
Is there a free version of ZeroBounce?
Yes. Sign up with a business or premium email domain and ZeroBounce gives you 100 free validations every month, plus one inbox placement test and one blacklist monitor. Warmup and DMARC monitoring aren't included. Paid credits start at $39 for 2,000.
Do ZeroBounce credits expire?
It depends on when you opened the account. Accounts created on or before June 1, 2026 keep credits that never expire. For newer accounts, purchased credits expire two years after the most recent purchase, and each purchase resets the clock. While a ZeroBounce ONE subscription is active, credits don't expire.
Which is better, ZeroBounce or NeverBounce?
NeverBounce costs less per check: 10,000 credits for $50 against $129 at ZeroBounce, as of October 2026. ZeroBounce adds 100 free checks a month, free unknown results, more catch-all verdicts and deliverability tools. A 2025 test by Hunter, which sells a verifier, ranked the two close together; ZeroBounce's own 2026 test put itself well ahead.
